Recent news — in a nutshell: We have successfully completed our 2012 season as a tour operator on the Los Angeles River! As our participants have seen, this is a fantastic new way to see LA — from the river's point of view! Thanks to everyone for your awesome interest in and commitment to revitalizing the river through our recreational-educational program!
Our history — in a nutshell: Since 2008, LA River Expeditions has fought hard on your behalf to open up river access and get Los Angeles a robust boating program. In 2011 we were joined by a coalition of organizations that worked together to make it happen in a pilot program called Paddle the LA River. A key factor in creating that was was the July 2010 EPA determination that the entire river would be considered a "traditional
navigable waterway" — which means that the water and the watershed will be protected under the federal Clean Water Act. This was
not only great news for Los Angeles, but it set a precedent for preserving other waterways across America. The efforts of L.A.River Expeditions proved central to this success and laid the groundwork for the now-popular kayak programs to exist.

EPA declares LA River a TNW
U.S. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson today announced the Agency’s decision that will ensure more effective protection under the Clean Water Act (CWA) for the Los Angeles River and for those who use the river for boating, fishing, and other recreational and commercial opportunities.

Obama announces a presidential initiative aimed at a new era of conservation — a call that he says hasn’t been issued since Teddy Roosevelt’s administration. In particular the program is aimed at urban areas, and also emphasizes youth.
